When it comes to sources, African-American historians have little material to use. They are faced with the problem of creating a comprehensive narrative that lacks solid evidence. Hence, the author fills in gaps, liberally makes assumptions and often produce such words as likely and seems.

Also, minority histories often focus on discrimination and persecution. The Walker Lewis story doesn't stray far from the meta-narrative. So the author is well within the norms for writing such history.

I am glad I could help make the Professor happy. Thanks for chiming in. I wouldn't know otherwise if there is much of an audience for these article reviews. I will definitely try to keep 'em coming.
